has anybody done it? i have mine out now for tinting and i noticed a blank plate over what looks to be a hole for another bulb in the third bar. the thing won't come off and i don't want to break the housing prying off the cover.

Sounds like the pigtail boss for the export taillights. It's behind the lowest lense opening correct? In many countries they require an amber turn signal. The '96-'98's also have an additional boss located low in the housing that is molded shut. I've wondered what could be done with it but have not come up with any good ideas. The '96-'98 export taillight housings are very rare and $600 to $800 a set.

yup it's in the lower bar, but it's gotta cover glued over it. i can handle splicing in another pigtail to the harness but i don't want to screw up the housing when i pop that cap.

Exactly! Mine is molded just like the other bosses but is closed off (no plug). There is a faint opening outline so it could be carefully opened up with a dremmel tool so it would function as the others as far as the "insert & twist" thing goes.

Does yours look like a plug was glued in place? Is the plug flat or does it have kind of a domed shape to it?

No. if the one I;m thinking is what you want to do, it was like 2-4 years ago. I'm trying to remember what I was even posting about. Sorry, I can't remember my last meal! I am trying to look though.

I was thinking the cap was different than what it really is. When I 1st looked @ it, it looked like it could be removed. Now when I look, not so much. I don't know what I thought I saw! Will you have to cut that off? Sorry, you know it took a long time for me to get what you meant. Until I saw your pic, I never really got it.

Could you use a hole saw & cut a new hole of the right size?

If so we could put VERTICAL sequential blinking turn signals in our cars! LOL...

This doesn't help much, but i could have sworn i saw something about this within the last week on here....
All i can remember is someone said that they used a dremel and bought another pigtail and spliced into the light above it..
I think.. :dontknow:

thanks guys i just wasn't sure if i wasn't turning the thing hard enough or if it was actually glues on. i'll use a hole saw and file the hole to match the others. if i remember i'll do a how to also.

Do eeeeeeeeeeet!! I was thinking the same thing for my tail lights. And vertical sequentials would be sweet! :D

not as bright as i thought it would be. i guess the diffuser for the reflector spreads the light out more. maybe a brighter bulb would help too.
