My 95 GT is having hot flashes. I have changed the head gaskets and thermostat not even a year ago (hardly any miles, car has sat for a bit). Every time I driving the temp goes up to as high as 240 last night and it was only 70 degrees out. I thought maybe the thermostat was sticking since the car has been sitting for awhile, and it was working fine. I have a 90 inch belt on it (no smog), stock stat, fan works, and has been burped. Only thing I can think of is that the water pump is going or that the cap or radiator is bad. I have found no leaks so I do not believe that the radiator is bad because I have found not leaks. Any ideas? First it was the brakes, and now we are backing to cooling issues.

Did you put the head gaskets on backwards? Thats the first thing that comes to mind. I had a friend that swore up and down that the gaskets were put on correctly..

I pulled one spark plug and a sh1tload of coolant came out...whoops lol.

yes, it means there is uneven flow across the cooling surface, usually caused by a blockage = replace radiator

When was the last time the cooling system was flushed and fresh anti-freeze added? This should be done every 2 t0 3 years. Just replace the cap. It needs to hold pressure to 16 psi. I would do both of these before replacing any "spendy" parts.

I wouldnt bother replacing the coolant if the radiator has cold spots..

free tests > cheap fixes > expensive parts

i agree with the radiator being blocked up with junk , if not then i would bet on a faulty thermostat. Just cuz you changed it awhile back doesn't mean that it isnt defective. I work at a parts store , trust me. I would change the radiator , flush the radiator and block , and add new coolant and see what happens. Then if it still runs hot you need to start tearing it down and figure out whats going on. You should run a compression check and see if maybe you dont have a blown head gasket , it could be leaking on the exhaust side if you dont see it in the oil. If everything is good then i would bet on the water pump.
