So I just installed a new clutch cable I got from advanced auto, but I guess its way too tight. The clutch doesnt grab even with the clutch all the way released. Anyone able to help?

Are you on the stock clutch quadrant or aftermarket? Or you can always adjust it at the clutch fork underneath the car too. I adjust mine to have about 1/8 inch gap between the throwout bearing and the pressure plate fingers.

Also I hate to tell you this, but everyone says the only good clutch cables are the oem replacement and MM, all the rest are rumored to wear quickly and be crappy; I'm assuming since you got this one from advanced auto that might be a possible issue. Good luck

I happen to have a brand new ford oem replacement lying around for my t45 equipped cobra. As you can see its threaded at the clutch fork end to allow for adjustment there. What transmission do you have?

Bad news. I don't think it's the clutch cable.

Just a stab here, but if the cable is secure on the fork and the quadrant and your clutch is not engaging, you have a clutch issue or a quadrant failed.

I doubt it, its a new king cobra clutch and the quadrant looks fine. The old cable snapped in half, I have the seperate pieces.

Have you crawled underneath and looked through the inspection plate while someone operates the clutch so you can see whats going on under there? And are you on the stock quadrant or not?

Disconnect the cable and see if the clutch is engaged. I don't think you can get the cable on if you have to pre load to a point where the clutch is actually not engaged.
