I'm installing my Raptor shift light and I want to hide it in the A/C vent. I can get the top loose but something is holding the bottom. I was thinking it was the aftermarket CD player which I don't have the tools to release it but I thought I'd check on here first.

Alpine, I don't have the tools to release it from the chassis. Do you know of another way to remove the headunit?

what model?,i also have an Alpine and it slides right out,no tools needed.

you talking about some tools like the ones to get the factory headunit, just cut a hanger on 4 pieces of 6" pieces long, youll be able to do it.

I'll have to try and pull on the CD player a little harder. All the previous aftermarket headunits I've owned had chassis release tools that came with it. This CD player was in the car when I bought it so I don't have those tools.

You can get them at pepboys. They are flat looking blade/hook type. They push between your headunit chassis and the unit and pull the unit out.

Aftermarket decks should just pull out.

...Wal Mart sells the Tool to remove the OEM ford deck.

I borrowed some chassis tools from my buddy who also has an Alpine head unit but there wasn't any room to slide them in so I removed the cubby hole under the stereo and pushed it out from behind. I had to get a little medieval.
