How much increase in boost?

My buddies got a PI vortech car that was making 10lbs with an S-trim and he upgraded to a T-trim, got a Power Pipe and upgraded to a 10% overdrive crank. Our question is, How much boost will his boost go up?

We've heard a few different thing.

Since the CFM of the S/C is increasing by 200cfm, wouldn't that increase boost? So the by that logic boost would have to increase. 1000 CFM vs 1200 CFM

I would give +3-4lbs for the 10% overdrive crank pulley and 2-3 for the boost pipe.


Any thoughts? Experience preferred please anyone can guess.

He's worried about lifting the heads from too much boost.

there no real answer until you get a boost gauge hooked up, its the only way to know for sure

Boost is a measure of restriction, not volume. It would be difficult (IMHO) to predict the increase in boost. If he's concerned about popping a head gasket, then perhaps he should start with a larger blower pulley or smaller crank pulley.

Any commentary provided here would likely be just blind guessing, and not value-added.

another factor is that the intake and heads will only flow so much air.

With the T trim, it may come on sooner, and give you some more air up top.
hard to guesstimate, and there's more to it thank peak pressure, like paul said.

So far, he's had it to 4200 and his boost what already at 12lbs. As long as there's no/minimal belt slip he should see every bit of 18-20lbs. He was just worried that if the boost was too much he'd lift the head.
