for a 94 gt w/ 165,000 on body 40k on engine (gone through and reringed and stuff). it has a trickflow stage 1 cam, x pipes, flowmaster exhaust, shorty headers, bbk intake, keyless entry, alarm system, better speaker system, bullit wheels w/ new rubber, new clutch and pilot bearing, all new brakes, and new radiator. taken care of very well and always garaged. front bumper does need to be painted. he is asking 4500, which for around where i live is about the cheapest i've seen. i looked at my friends aunts and she wouldn't go under 4250 for one that needed more work than i wanted to do.
just wondering what you guys think. would i be paying too much if i payed 4200 for this one? interior and exterior are good. i'm looking at it tomorrow morning.

$4200 isn't bad provided it's in reasonably good shape. Does he have documentation to support the engine refresh?

no he doesn't. he seems like a really reliable guy though. i'm going to drive it tomorrow and maybe buy it then. it was refreshed when the cam was done from what he told me.

If he's got nothing to support it, then I'd proceed under the assumption that nothing was done. Sounds like bullshit to me.

I would be hardpressed to take his word. Like if I were to sell mine and tell someone I have a fully forged bottom end but I don't have receipts I would not expect them to believe me.

yea like people already mentioned, its hard to tell what has been done inside the engine without receipts. sometimes you can tell by the idle sound but id just go by thinking nothing was done at all. if it runs good, engine bay looks decently clean, for $4200 it might be a good buy. i bought a 95 gt in jan. with 83k on it for $3000, bone stock, runs good. but i think that was a steal.

if hes got receipts or something to prove his work, then id say go for it. but if its somehting you really like and want to mess with anyways even without proff of his mods then go for it anyways, thast not a bad price for 4200 i would say

well, decided against it cause it was too many miles, no paper work for the stuff, too loud (dumps) and was probably run the crap out of compared to my friends aunts car. so i think i'm getting a BAB next weekend!
thanks for all the help!!!
