my stang is a fair weather friend and not my only one so my average is close to 2,000 a year now. that excludes last year when it did not run. $$$$ were put into making camaro driver friendly. motor is in stang now and hoping to get that mileage up a little this summer.

I shudder for those who have to drive them in the snow/salt. Ive been caught in the rain a few times b/c of summer pop up thunder storms but other then that as far as I know to my knowledge mines never seen the snow/salt and from the looks of the underside Id have to believe it. Theres no rust anywhere on it and it was a Florida car before I bought it.

When there is no more salt/rocks on the roads I drive it.
When I see it's suppose to snow the next day I store it.

Salt stays on the roads for quite awhile after a snow storm. Its never gone until there are a few really good soaking rain storms fallowed by no more snow at all.

Most places dont use rock salt anymore, they use Brine. Although it is still a salt-water mix, its not as corrosive and doesnt get all over the place like loose rock salt does.

Guess that would explain why all the cars/trucks up here are white after from road salt after every storm. Rock salt or not it gets over everything. As far as it not being as corrosive just look under my truck.

I've put 695 miles on my car since January 3rd, 2008. About 500 of those miles are from the past month. The rest of it is how far I made it with a Tremec in it, haha

Same here. Mine is always garaged during the winter. I've seen cars/truck up here that were less then 7 years old already with rust spots on them & not a little bit either. I'm talking bigger then my entire hand in spots. Mostly rockers and wheel wells or where the quarter panel meets the bumper. Where I live they still use salt and lots of it. They will start salting 2 days before a major storm is predicted to hit. I usually swap out daily drivers every 3-4 years cause they will start getting a lot of surface rust on the underside of the car. =(

The 96 I got last year right after halloween and have yet to drive...the 07 I try and drive once a week or once every other week on nice days, granted tomorrow will make 3 weeks since it's been started.
