okay so i bought two things of trans oil for my car this summer, i left them in my car and one of the bottles exploded in my trunk and ruined my carpet. after tearing out my carpet the smell is still their. i want to recarpet my trunk and make it nice but not until the stench is gone. any tricks? i tried letting coals like from a grill sit in my trunk for like half a month and it didn't work(false myth that it soaks up bad smells) im tired of my car smelling like it and for you guys who know what it smells like, its terrible!!!!!!!

I don't know how you'd go about doing it, but good luck, because you're right that it does smell terrible.

Take out all your trunk panels and degrease and clean clean clean. Might have some soaked into the back of the seats too.

Yea what duh09 said . It's going to take a while to get the smell out you'll prolly have to take the rear seats and all trunk pannels out and use simple green or something

bad grammer* let me fix that. By putting cat litter in my trunk, on my installation plates, it might be possible for the cat litter to absorbe the oil smell emmitting from the installation plates. but that was only an idea of mine and I'm not sure if that would work.

you may have to remove that insulation.... which consists of massive amounts of dry-ice and a pneumatic air-chisel.....

then re-apply some dyno-mat or something in its place.
