Friday afternoon my 95 wouldnt come out of gear. Seems the pilot bearing exploded, and a spring took a chunk out of the clutch. Nothing but the race of the pilot bearing is left, and it is stuck in the crank. Im just going to pull my engine, and go ahead and do the swap for the fresher GT40P engine. 6 hrs of trying to get it fixed, and a $15 part is forcing me to pull the motor.

You can get the race out with a slide hammer, pilot bearing extractor, and a little time. Ask me how I know.

I was so pissed when the pilot bearing came apart. It tooks hours to get the race out.

Now I use the grease trick to knock out pilot bearings. Works way better than a slide hammer, and won't damage the bearing either.

Paul.

Been there done that wont budge.. all Im missing is the t-shirt... but in the end this for the best. The old engine is way tired, and heck I have half the work done already with the tranny out.

Now to my problems... my intake wont clear these valve covers. So I need to grab a spacer. No problem. The power steering pumps threads in the shaft for the pulley stripped and we cant get the pulley back on, so I have to get a new pump. The transmission is back in and the exhaust is down to one pipe being bolted in. Im dog tired so tomorrow Ill button up the exhaust, and find the rest of what I need monday.

EEEWWWWWWW.... a stock intake after all that work????

I wasnt going to make this swap for another 2 months. I was kind of forced to do it now. New intake will come soon enough. So will a few other bolt-ons I had planned to pick up between now, and june.

Paul my EGR tube is plugged. Im running shorty fox style headers. It doesnt matter anyway I put the stock valve covers back on it until i can get a spacer. I probably wont bother until I pick up the new intake now. I need it to run tomorrow evening. New power steering pump will be here tomorrow, and I pray one of the local ford dealers has a pulley in stock.

The pulley is fairly general use. I always keep them in stock, and generally sell the same part number for a long list of different cars and trucks. You should be able to get one. If not, your dealership sucks. BTW I sell parts at a ford dealership.

Odd my dealership cant get them. I did find one though. Im having a problem with it going on however. The tool gets it on till its about 1/4" or so from seating then it wont go on any more. Im stopping before I break something to calm down, and then Ill go back to it. It only wanted to go on about half way. Then I removed it, and reinstalled and now its a lot further down. I might pull it off again, and go to install a 3rd time hoping it seats.... stupid car... LOL
