today as the day was ending I took a trip to home depot to get wood for my door project. Came out and was putting my wood away when a retired couple walked up and complimented my exhaust and wheels and asked if it was mystic chrome. One of the reasons I love the DFG color is how at dusk it can look a combination of green/blue/black, I had to take them to the sunny side to prove it was green. Told them about our mustang club and they said they would look us up.

Then I am waiting at the light to get back onto the expressway, double left turn lanes and I am in the fist spot with a semi next to me. After a minute I hear the semi honk and wondering what that was about I leaned over to try and see him. I almost had to lay my head on the bottom of the passenger seat and when I did there was a big-ole-hairy trucker smiling at me. When he saw me look up he said,"That motherfucker sounds good! Can you get on it a little when the light is green?". How could I resist??

Its been a fun progression in that car. When my parents got it for my mom it was the 2nd one of the sn95 generation in a small indiana town and for the first 6 months of driving it you would have thought it was a ferrari. People stopping you in parking lots to check it out and everyone wanted to race at the lights... Then after a few years it was just like every other mustang in town and no one paid attention to it. I don't think it was until I brought it back to az in 07 and put the black deep dish wheels on it befor it got another compliment. After the side exhaust was installed it got more looks and comments and they became more regular. Now last year after the HCI swap it get just as many compliments on its sound as it does on its looks in parking lots. Its certainly not the fastest car in town and with the addition of my stereo may never be but I also doubt that perminant project will ever end....

The sn95 platform isn't common anymore, so I think the compliments are going to start coming back harder then ever! I love those days....and DFG paint is amazing, I like the green/blue/black scheme depending on the lighting as well. I can't wait to get mine repainted with show car quality one of these days. Saw a few of them online, and just looks absolutely stunning!

I still see more then a few snives but most of them are ragged out, paint chipped/flaking, and in sad shape. I always kept the paint in good shape while my mother was driving it so it has survived really nicely and that is probably why it stands out now. A couple of months ago my club met up for a cruise and I was the first to show up and everyone else parked on the shaded sided(again at dusk). A friend of mine I had not seen in a couple weeks parked 3 cars up, and as he got out he did a triple take on me and my car. I had just shaved a 5inch goatee so I thought maybe he didn't recognize me but there isn't another mustang in town with side exhaust so I am not sure why he was lookin at the car all confused. He walked up and asked me when I painted it and I said I had just waxed it a couple weeks ago but its the same color it has been since 94. He looked at it again and said no its black and a couple of others in the club said they thought the same. I had to take the club to the sunny side of the car to prove it was still the same color.

Any one els have any good stories of suprise compliments or thumbs up?

Sadly, no. I've gotten idk... maybe 3 compliments like that. Oh well, hopefully that'll change when I get new wheels and change the roof to black.

Same here. I've gotten tons of compliments on my o.g paint job.
One of my friends' mother wouldn't believe my car was a 96'. She swore it had to be newer then 2000 due to the condition of the paint.
