i seriously hate my car.. its no fun to drive and its even worse to work on.. i hate working on it.. driving it is just a drab. its boring

now, i feel like the dumbest person ever but how in the HELL do you get the rear brake pistons to seat back into the calipers? we have the adjustment tool to do it and the piston will just not go back in. my dad is strong and the piston wont budge................ we have never had a problem like this. my dad can get brakes done in 15-20 minutes. i had to replace the caliper because my rear brakes got so bad.. so we got the part today, go outside and can't even get the stupid piston back in..

please help. ive lost all hope for my car. it seriously sucks the life out of me.

The rear brake pistons thread into the calipers. You need a specific tool to do this - they're available for cheap at Harbor Freight and I've used my successfully a couple of times. If you have this tool and it still won't go, then I don't know how to help.

you definately need to turn it. I used a needle nose pliers to sitck in the two slots, and twisted and pushed and it went in like a piece of cake. otherwise maybe the new caliper itselfis bad. If that is the case i would take it back

yes, you must twist and apply pressure to the piston. dont hate your car, your car is awesome. you are lucky to have such a nice car, and nice cars take work and time. if its not fun to drive, make it fun. save up throw on more bolt-ons, to the motor, do some suspension stuff (if i remember you are getting some cool stuff for x-mas) and just take one thing at a time. good luck :santa_afro:

If you already nows that the pistons turns back into the caliper, (which it sounds like you do) take the banjo bolt off the caliper and try it then. I couldn't get one of mine to push back in even with teh tool until i took the banjo bolt off. unfortunately my other caliper wont turn back in with it off the car. That shit is pissin me off, i now have to buy a new one, then shave the shit out of it to fit my Telstars.

i do know that the piston twists back into the caliper.. we have tried and it will not budge. we drained a bit of the brake fluid out hoping it might relieve a bit of pressure on it but still wont budge. it was dark when we tried it and got a bit chilly. while im at work tomorrow, my dad will try and fix it for me. if we cant get it, he is going to bleed the system and do all that other fun stuff.

i really honestly love my car, but its not fun to work on 98% of the time.. there is always trouble and i wish it weren't like that. i wish i could just go in and fix/add parts to it and call it a day, to bad it never seems to be that easy.

also, DFG, do we have to bleed the brake line after we take out the banjo bolt?? thanks guys!

yes you need to bleed the lines if you take off the banjo bolt, it's not hard to do with 2 people there...

and routine maintenence can be a bitch, no matter what the car. that is why many people pay the high dealership prices to have shit fixed. If you don't want to work on your car, then i suggest you get the lube and start paying someone to deal with the bullshit your car is gonna dish out....

Don't get to frustrated. At least you dont have the stupid 3 day rule. ANYTHING I do to my car ends up fucking spread over 3 days because something broke, messed up, stuck on or wont go on, or is missing. Serious. Control arms, intake swap, headers gaskets, and a couple other jobs. Pisses me OFF. But I always get it done and I always go spend more money and get more parts to do it again for some reason lol. You will be fine. At least you have a cobra. I have a GT and still have problems haha imagine how I feel when im in your position.

If you let them go too long, the piston will come out too far to go back in.

my brakes were worn all the way to the shoes. there was no pad left. the caliper couldn't be saved either.. lol

my dad did my brakes while i was at work though. i TOLD HIM WORD FOR WORD yesterday that the piston TWISTED back into the caliper and he never did that. he was just applying straight up pressure so obviously thats why it wasn't going in...

i told him today though that it had to be twisted back in. so he got it all done today. still ran into problems though, the caliper pin froze up so he went and bought two new ones, and then he had to get different pads () because the ones we bought, the pad was to thick to even fit next to the calipers... dont know if they gave us the wrongs ones or not, so we got some thermal quiet ones or w/e..

all in all, my dad got it done for me while i made some bucks.

and you guys want a good laugh?....... i work at hobby lobby.    (with my girlfriend at least)

hobby lobby huh? that shouldn't be too bad. glad to hear everything worked out. it can be frustrating sometimes working
on your car, especially if you know what the parts supposed to do, and one little thing is keeping that from happening.
just keep at it, and it will pay off with a damn good looking car such as yours. :santa_afro:

i love working on my car with my dad, even if he does do most of my work. hes more knowledgeable and i get to hang out with my dad.. its something we both love doing so i have no problem with him helping me.

also, my dad has much more strength then i do and most of the stuff is hard to tackle. i do the easy stuff by myself like oil changes and general things and those mods that can be done with basic tools and not much strength needed.. my dad helps me do the rest.

he does a lot of me.

and i just took my car for a spin and everything ran perfectly. no more loud grinding from the disc shoe/rotor and rides good. cold weather = cooler intake charges so the car felt a bit peppy.. and i said i hated my car. ::) ::)

Glad u got it man, i got into this thread really late but me and my buddy josh just got done doing his rear brakes also. lol
we didnt know either it twisted back in till i looked at the haynes manual, lmao. If anyone needs to do this to their own
car go and get the kit that autozone will loan to u. Seriously took 10 minutes after we got the tool setup. It turns and
compresses the piston. His pads were shot also, so bad it was diggin into the rotors. :santa_undecided:
