Alright so I'm leaving for basic training in March. I am gathering parts for my father to install while I'm gone. I already have a cam set up but I am looking for opinions on everything that needs to be changed or upgraded during the swap. Ik the cams I have are going to be a VERY tight fit without notching the pistons. Please let me know what you guys think about my plan and what you would do differently. If you know anyone selling the stuff I need for a good deal let me know

thanks

Looks to be a good plan. You can upgrade the stock valves to a flatter face valve or cut the rim off the stock valve. The stock pi valves have a cupped face and by cutting it off adds more room. This will add a lot of clearance for more cam profile.
Doing this along with piston notching and you can run a crazy cam or just add more clearance. I would not suggest any more intake duration above 262º with the stock stuff. Others will chime in with their claims of running more cam with the "proper" degreeing with stock valves and no piston notches. Degreeing any cams is a must, but stay in the degree of what the manufacturer produced for you.

Alright, yeah I already found ground stock valves for $70 is that fair? And with my setup is it with finding an aftermarket intake? Or just grab a used oem pi intake?

Not gonna have an issue with those cams if they are installed properly.

For a 98 you don't need to upgrade anything else when you do the Cobra brakes. Only 94-95 GT's have that issue.

Thanks droptop and I know the hydra boost is already on my car, I have a hunch that it's failing cuz I lost abs and have all front bias braking.

The VT/CMS II's are close with stock valves. I ran them in my car with stock heads and un notched pistons and didn't degree them. They didn't hit, but knowing what I know now, I would do the intake valve mod and degree the cams too....

Yep that's the plan. And intake valve mod? Are you talking about grinding them down for more clearance?
