Ok, so I wanted to get a porter cable, but money is tight so I thought "well I'll buy a cheapo, and if I do alright with it, I'll step up my game later." Either that thing sucked, or I'm the worst person in the world at using a powered buffer, cause it sucked lol. I was kinda afraid to push on it at all because I hear so many horror stories of burning the paint. The one I tried was a Craftsman, it was like 50 dollars, but I took it back...

The buffer you are talking about is really only good for applying wax, it won't even come close to doing any paint correction. You really don't have to worry about it hurting your paint at all.

A little tip for you, that it took me years of frrustration to learn... do not apply very much pressure, let the buffer do the work.

they do a decent job at waxing... apply the wax with the orbital, then lay down a soft cloth on the paint, and set the orbital on top of it.... it will look great. Upgrade to a PC when you wanna step up to baller status.

Pc= porter cable= high speed buffler

lol...

PC is actually a random orbital man...

A rotary is for removing paint defects and stuff

PC is more of a polish/ small defect tool.

I use a random orbit buffer on mine after a coat of NXT and after a coat of Carnuba and it really brings out the shine.

Yea...random orbit is what a PC is ....its good for polishing, laying wax...but its not as affective for removing scratches and swirls as a rotary.

but it is a lot safer
