I'm agreeing with you on this whole matter. My dad pretty much built our whole house using our old 90's ranger to haul the materials. We now have lots of pickups for our construction company, but they pull much bigger things lol...

The thing that impresses me the most about the thing is that with 257,000 on the clock, the thing still runs as well as a newer Ranger. Part of the reason why I am not selling it/trading it in when I get the new Fusion or Focus ST (have to convince the wife to be on the st lol).

They are pretty sturdy little pickups. My dad's was a 4cyl standard and it ran till 240k and then we sold it still running just fine..

yeah I would be interested in getting a diesel but the big thing is that I most likely plan on driving the truck daily too...so I'm not sure what exactly I want. I know that diesels last longer, and hold their value but at the same time, Idk if I need that much truck. all I ever see in the Air Force are these tools driving their lifted big ass diesel trucks and what do they do with em? jack shit...don't tow a damn thing. just drive it around base...I don't get it. but like I said, if I do get a new truck, its going through the ringer, towing the cobra back and forth to the track, might be tossing a racing kart in the back, all of this being over a decent amount of hauling distance. I will say, my 05 silverado handles it pretty well right now. I was just kinda tossing the truck on here cuz I wouldn't mind having one of those platinums. but....it is entertaining reading you guys fight over what's best! lol.

Get a shortbed and it's the same amount of truck as an F150 man. Really they're not hard at all to drive, and the shortbeds aren't hard to park either. I'm currently dailying my old mans 350 and its a CC LB, and it's never once bothered me being as big as it is. And we've got 33's on it, leveled out and partially lifted front end... I've honestly never understood what people mean when they say too much truck lol

And if gas is an issue for you, well I can totally understand that. Diesel isn't too far below a dollar more per gallon than unleaded. I don't mind it myself, because I fukkin loooooove diesels lol but I can understand why a lot of people don't drive them. I dunno.. I was raised in a diesel truck family lol so when people say they've towed this and that in a gas, thats great for them but I honestly wouldn't want to tow or haul anything in anything other than diesel. That's just me tho, everyone has there own thing

Well yeah man I'm sure tranny's are an issue but lets be honest you mod anything and the tranny is probably gonna be a weak point. But even a bone stock ecoboost has a pretty insane amount of power if you ask me

Diesel here is only like 16 cents more per gallon . Like Joey said I don't mind driving my extended cab long bed dually on 35's daily my Tahoes been driving me nuts lately so back to rolling in style .... Or from ur point of a view being a tool in my lifted diesel , that beats being a geek in a platinum who bought a truck because they think it's cute....

Lol, yes I agree that the ecoboost is an impressive engine. Hell I sell the damn things. For me, I just have to be able to justify the up charge, and 1500 for 40 tq and 5 hp is really not worth it.

I was referring to the tools in their lifted diesels in the military that have them only because they can afford it and want to show off. and don't tow anything at all or use the truck for well what it's made for...to be a truck. so don't get SASSY with me...

Get the f150.. any of the v8 models or even the ecoboost will tow a mustang all day long. In my opinion you dont need a diesel unless you truly us it every day, meaning you have a job that constantly requires heavy towing or live somewhere that is impracticle for gas engines.

I just don't see a point in buying half a truck and pushing it to the Maxx to tow a mustang and trailer.

if the mustang and trailer together weigh aprox 6000lbs and the max towing capacity is 11000lbs how is that pushing it to the max?? I agree that if this was a dedicated tow vehicle by all means get the diesel but its going to be an occasional tow vehicle and a daily driver.

Yea, what happens when you hit a big hill even at 6000lbs the trucks going be screaming save me... What do I know tho I've only towed over 20,000 with me dually numerous times. Oh well I'm done with the truck debate seems like everyone votes for the girls truck up in this B

Hills make ALL the difference in the world. I agree with Kyle 100000% percent. Go take that F150 in the Virginia mountains and see how long it lasts... You pass big diesels on the side of the road because they couldn't make it in one run, an F150 wouldn't make it half as far. And you may think "I'll never be in the mountains" but I thought the same myself. And Ive been pulling a somewhere around 20k through them. Boy watch those guages climb and feel your heartbeat increase because your not sure if your gonna make it. O did I mention this was in a diesel? Haha I would never put a F150 through that. I love them don't get me wrong, but id never buy one to tow, no matter the weight or distance :)

Oh I'm done with this thread .... They all know what they're talking about .... Even tho none of these guys have ever towed a car an trailer with a f150 but they seem to know it will get the job done , so they think . I towed the indentical truck to mine and trailer so right around 12,000lbs with my dually and there claiming the f150 can do 11,300 on what flat ground or going down hill ?

Hahaha o man that's funny... But I do think it's flat ground rated. Uphill you might as well cut that in half it just won't do it very good

Downhill it can do 40k EASY! Just don't try to stop it
