IAT with MSPNP2, overthinking?

I may be overthinking this...

I run a carb style throttle body and I've been running a MSPNP2 on my 95GT motor for years and I've never had an IAT sensor plugged in. I just have the empty plug on the harness.

I also don't have a MAF since I'm using the MAP sensor for the MSPNP2.

Should I have an IAT sensor plugged in, and if I do, will it function correctly without the factory MAF? I believe the wiring runs through the MAF plug.

And finally, if I should have that IAT sensor plugged in, will tying it up in the fender be ok? I know it won't be reading actual intake temps that way, just ambient air.

Well, who tuned it? You can run it without an iat but there are no timing or fueling compensations taking place.

You’ll have to pull you tune and look at the iat tables. Tying it up in the fender will render the sensor useless.

not sure why that was bypassed with as easy as it can be to add. It would at the minimum effect the drivability but could also add some power if it is tuned correctly with it.

Not really. If the tables are zeroed out and not being used, it will have no effect on anything. I ran my Holley and megasquirt with no IAT corrections. Car drove perfect with both of them. It is a variable that can change your track times, and I didn’t want it.

But, it is also a safety net for forced induction cars.
