Well boys and girls, its been in my head for a while now, and I want to see what the kids think.

Buy a run down 94 or 95 v6 car. Ugly paint, not running, don't care, just want a clean body.

Make a cobra clone (skirts, front bumper, shaved rear bumper, crab claw, wingless, or s281)

Paint it mystichrome (or the house of colors version, not sure yet, still just a plan)

build up a sick 8.8 or 9" rear, and drop a shiny 347 stroker in.

Obviously some interior clean up etc. Basically, making a nice, solid car, that's streetable, but will turn heads. Not going for mystic since I feel thats DOHC V8 territory in the sn95 body style.

What do you guys think? And you know me, all motor all the way, this one will be that way too. The one after that will get boost, I promise haha :D

Dont buy it, build it. Youll get much more satisfaction that way. Yeah youll spend more money but there is nothing like being able to say,"yeah I built that bad mofo." Plus a lot of times when you buy someones project, you're buying their half assed work or their headache. Build ya a 408 with a Mexican block with some AFR 205's and an Ed Curtis custom cam. The mexican block can handle more hp and abuse anyways. Then gut the hell outta it, put a nice suspension and built 8.8 underneath it and let it eat! Could add a nice lil fogger kit too. That sounds like fun to me. LoL

i would agree with Chris on the potential for buying somebody elses headache BUT you will never be able to build what you can buy already built. besides, for most of us at least, our dreams/plans/desires greatly out number our budget.

While that's true about 80% of the time, there are always deals to be had out there. Just gotta keep your eyes on the forums whenever you have the cash. And when building something like that there's no need to rush it. Buy some stuff here and there. Before you know it you'll have it all waiting to be assembled. Also when buying someones car you can never fully trust you're getting that 347 they say is in it. Who's to say they didn't take that stroker out and put a bone stock 302 back in it ya know? Had a buddy of mine get burnt that way. I agree with ya though. But like the build I was talking about, that's not a huge budget setup. That's something if you bought pieces here and there used could be put together for fairly cheap. Only thing that'll getcha is the machine work cause that's something we all know you can't afford to pick the cheapest shop for or you'll end up doing it all over again. But the satisfaction of building your own shit makes every penny spent totally worth it in my opinion.

i say do whatever color you like cause most people aren't going to know the difference between mystic, mystichrome and house of colors and those that do will probably respect the build regardless. unless it has Cobra badges. i like the idea.

Nothing wrong with that idea but if you're going to have to swap motors and stuff, why not do something a little different than a 302? I've always wanted to build a 2.3L turbo snive... or a turbo LSX...

I've always wanted to tell you how much i love the way you think outside of the box. I totally agree with the 2.3L turbo, you already nailed the v6, why not go even more out of the box!

I like the ideas but personally I'd find a run down 5.0 based car that way you don't have to change all the wiring and stuff

i don't see the point in re-inventing the wheel. why not go buy a a 94-95 that already has the makings of it and just paint it mystichrome then.

Just like Chris said, I know with my luck I'd end up getting something I'd have to completely redo, because I don't trust their work. Although, I know it saves money to do that.

I was trying to keep it 302 based, which is why I noted a 347. ha :D Dart block and a basic h/c/i 347. :) I may not completely gut it, probably RSD though. It's still all up in the air :)

sounds like it would be a bad ass sn imo! it's nice to hear an sn owner plan on making exterior look good and not just strictly focus on go fast shit, lol.

Thanks Tony! I think both are equally important haha

Thanks man! I'd either leave pony's or just shave it. And I agree, there's plenty of people that don't even know the difference in mystic and mystichrome haha.

Trying to stay away from turbos this time around, and for some reason I've always wanted a 347. Though, I wasn't even thinking about the LS side. That'd be the cheapest way to go fast haha.

I think out of the box, or duh? lol Ha, but the answer to your question, ^ I still might do that one day. You know me, I have a long list of projects I want ;p

I like the ideas but personally I'd find a run down 5.0 based car that way you don't have to change all the wiring and stuff

I was leaning towards a V6 only because you can get them for a few hundred bucks if they barely run/don't run. Since everything would be getting changed anyhow. I was debating either going carb or running something like the Holley EFI system (my buddy put it in his fox, it's amazing) Either way, I'm a gauge whore so I'd be loading it out with that stuff, and shaving the engine bay.

i'd like to see someone put an 11 v6 into a sn95.

I'm not that creative :)

Chris mentioned doing something like this piece by piece, which is definitely the idea. Eventually, the whole thing comes together, and then I can unveil :)

I figure, if you invest x amount into the motor, why not spend just a little to really know what's going on in there (as best you can) with some nice gauges.

all those different engine swaps are cool and all but when I drive my Mustang I want to hear a V8. If he already had a V8 I guess it could be a different story but he's overdue lol.

Hey hey now, remember who's talking here haha!

I love my car, but I've always said I"d be building a v8. And I've thought about this so much, it seems like a swell idea ha!

Side exhaust or out the back? what do you guys think?

I remember, that's why I said you're overdue for a V8 lol.

exhausts are a *****, just pick your poison but having done both rear is more what I wanted.

Rear exhaust downsides:
hard to get tailpipes even sometimes
Wide tires can cause fitment issues
don't hear it as much

side exhaust downsides:
reduces ground clearance by a lot unless you work some custom magic
looks weird without side skirts, then the rear bumper looks really high.
if you have a loud exhaust and your windows open you could make your ears bleed
fumes enter car much more easily when stopped at a light

We have such good examples of perfect side exhaust setups on this site. Though, you make some really good points! :D

This is fun to ponder haha

I love the Loook of a sn with a set of magnaflow or slp tips. My cars have always had them out the back but I might be force to run dumps this year if my anti roll bar interferes with my tail pipes
