idle issues.

Well I got a MMR 900 with xe278 and full eddy intake. no IAC/EGR At idle I'm getting back fire like a mofuger, every time the moment I let off the gas when TB goes to idle I'm running rich as can be and getting backfire. I know it's most likely a tune issue but.. any idea's what I can do myself while waiting on SCT to get back to me.

yeah I was hoping to not have to rent a car trailer and drive to my local tuner. o well.

Email tunes aren't bad if it's done by a real tuner. The datalogging is the same whether it's done by you or the dyno operator.

Have you checked for vacuum or exhaust leaks yet?

I agree with everyone about needing a real tune but check all the bases first if you havent already.

Checked vacuum, it's a full on back fire from the rear of car so pretty sure pipes are ok. I'm going to completely re do my CIA it's a flex hose ATM I threw together in a rush. If no luck after that I'm just going straight to the tuners.
I ordered at 10.7-1 compression on the phone they told me they shipped 9.5-1. might be a week or so but I'll update this once she is running smooth.

That doesnt matter. I had a leak between the manifold and x pipe a while back and when I shifted 1-2 it backfired so loud it was like a gunshot lol. Anything after the o2 sensors doesnt matter.

Do you have your iat hooked up? Any sensors not hooked up?

I got the 6 pin MAF so it's hooked up but I didn't check my tuner for IAT just the MAF. everything appears to be hooked up correctly. I'll be honest ATM I'm worried about some internal damage, when we finished my motor and installed it, my fuel pump was out. So the guy that's been helping me build this car said jump in car I'll spray a lil gas down the intake. yeah she rev'ed up for 10 sec but also had a blow back through the intake. so I gotta buy a compression tester. That's where I'm headed next. it only did it one time but life has shown me to always prepare for the worst outcome.

Shouldn't have done any damage to the mechanics of the engine but can damage sensors and blow off vacuum lines.

AL Righty THEN! So I'm A DUMBASSS I admit it 120%. passenger side coils where hooked up 4 to 3/3 to 2/2 to 1/1 was hooked I think to the IAC input..go ahead and slow clap for me. I must have seen on this very forum of other people doing that 50 times and didn't catch myself.... haha well new issue I believe I'm seeing a bit of blue tinted smoke at idle...../tear


like I said I don't run IAC or EGR so I got a lot of loose wires and deleted vacuum tubes hehe.

and a update to that.... I guess I just needed to burn off the lil gas that was in my tubes because I shut her off waited 45 mins and now no smoke !!! now I'm all car horny !!!!

Congrats on getting it figured out.

Serious question though. Why on earth would you let MMR get away with that wrong piston BS and not make them correct it? MMR is so shoddy.

I didn't call them till 1 year later and they happened to read me the order list.. was a lil mad because I wanted more hp than just stock compression with the price I paid. But in the end will be turbo so the lower compression might be better. makes me wonder what they really shipped lol one day I will test it. the tune I requested was 9.5-1 it is running very good atm.
