In April, I purchased my 1st "just for fun" car. I found a 96 mustang gt convertable. It has absolutely no rust, which is huge because I live in Maine, so to find a 96 anything rust free is rare. It has 150k on it, very few blemishes on the paint. The only issues were the drivers side door latch, and the rear sway bar were busted. I've fixed the door latch, and I'm about to order the sway bar, after I get off here.
Anyways, I want to add on to her, and was hoping for some reasonably-priced suggestions. I'd like to make it sound tougher, and maybe a little louder. I'm also thinking new rims, but all ideas are welcome! Thanks

Grt on Facebook marketnplace, you can find lots of parts to fix or modify your mustang on there for reasonable prices. The first things I would buy though I'd a good pump jack, a set of jack stands. And a big socket set and a 20-150lb torque wrench. Those are your best friends

I would look into either flowmaster, borla, or magnaflow exhausts. You can find the quieter magnaflow touring exhausts pretty cheap. They give a little sound but nothing stupid loud and have low interior resonance. Ie: drone.

We are new to the Mustang world too. I had been a car guy since I was little but sold my last one in 2003 ('57 Chevy 552HP). Decided to try a convertible so picked up a clean 1995 GT and loving it so far. Put about 800 miles on it in the 4 or 5 weeks we have had it.

I personally never liked Flowmaster but SLP and Magnaflow have fantastic exhaust kits. Nothing pays off on these cars like a suspension upgrade. Hit up ebay or FB and you can pick up a torque arm & panhard bar kit cheap. Then pick up a new k-member, tubular control arms and coil-over kits from Maximum Motorsports. These cars make plenty of power but the factory suspension hampers them. A set of cobra brakes for the front probably wouldn't go amiss either.

Maybe in the mid 90s.
A newer Toyota Camry has more HP than a 96-98 GT
