what kind of turbo system are you putting on that doesn't need brakes? Seems funny to me to make it go fast, and stop slower... By funny I mean setting yourself up to fail.

i'll still have brakes just not anti lock.I'm a old foxbody owner for years and they never had it so it'd be nothing for me to take it off. but it can be relocated witht he kit to. it's a boost brothers kit. anyone have pics of what i'm looking for? being new to these cars i'm still learning the difference from a fox car. thanks

I didn't think you were taking the disks/calipers off but removing the abs will make it not stop as well correct? Now add that on top of a car that will not be slow and it makes for a car I do not want to ride in, or infront of...

if you remove the ABS it'll stop but your wheels would lock up. i'm sure it's not meaning to take the componets off just whatever works/activates the ABS. but i'll relocate instead unless I find to be easier the other way.

I don't have ABS and have no trouble stopping. Only time its nerve racking is in the rain when they do have a tendency to lock up. Learn to pump that pedal, you'll be fine ;p

I've never heard of an ABS system having to get deleted due to a turbo. I've even looked at turbos for the sn95's but none of them mentioned deleting the abs.

My car's ABS doesn't work for reasons unknown to me. While I'd rather have it working just because of the light on the dash... it stops just as well.

Lots of kits used to require it. Your car is a modular car jones. Most kits require a tubular k member when 4.6 based motors are used. Some require deleting the a/c .

g35 - why is your abs out? I guess you don't have a vehicle inspection in your state? The light on the dash would have been a reason to fail it in az. now have you guys with out breaks had a good scare yet where you locked them up and thought you were done-for? Sorry to tell you if it has not happened, it will.

pull the light bulb. my dad used to drive a 1991 grand marquis without abs, and he had it for almost 18 years without being in an accident. people these days lack the proper driving skill to stop on slippery pavement, and thus require a helping hand like abs. now, im not arguing that abs isnt better, because it is. but it is not 100% nessesary, and it doesnt mean you are going to wreck your car if you dont have it.

pulling the bulb out will not clear the code and would have failed inspection in az. Yes I realize that people have been stopping their cars with out abs for a lot longer then we have. But then take into account that the cars are faster now(and now even more with his turbo) and that there are soo many more cars on the road(puking oil and everything else on to the streets to make them slick) and I can't imagine why anyone would not want abs.

I will say it again that adding a turbo and decrasing your stopping force just doesn't = a good time to me.

Now if anyone gets on here and says that they are not planning on having an accident I will have to give you instructions on how to choke yourself with the cables on your computer as that is just a dumb thing to say. I like to hope for the best and plan for the worst, and do it right and do it once....

I've locked up 195 profile tires with no ABS on a 1940's international and 66 fairlane a few times in bad situations.. So yes I have. As long as you realize what your car does and you compensate for it then you're fine. Obviously i'd rather have ABS like ganzey said, but it's not ZOMG terrible either.

My car was a bottom of the line base model V6 and just didn't come with ABS. That's why I don't have it, so there is no code and no light for it.

We accidentally put non ABS rotors on my dads truck, and yes, if we had an inspection here his f-150 would fail because as soon as you hit 65mph the light comes on.

I have had scary situations, but we all have, its just bad when idiots decide they need to cut me off during monsoon weather. These cars already suck in the rain (when you are not trying to have fun) and people just drive like morons. I agree with the hope for the best plan for the worst statement.

man I though abs was standard on all the cars by then. Hell I even thought the GTS versions of the 94/95 have it.

Wow! I HAVE used my ABS twice in my F150 & I would never voluntarily delete it! I defy you "expert old school drivers" to avoid the imminent crashes I was heading for without ABS! (Two wheels on a steep sloped gravel shoulder, two wheels on dry pavement heading for a gully/culvert) a semi forced me off the freeway...even if you COULD have controlled the disparity in traction side to side it would NEVER have stopped in as short a distance as the full force braking ABS allowed me to do!! Pumping the brakes IF you can remember to do it produces MUCH longer braking distances... just a fact!

So add 100+++ extra HP to your car & simultaneously increase your EMERGENCY stopping distances is definitely the wrong way to go!! Doesn't make any sense whatsoever!! Yes you can possibly go a lifetime & never need ABS but don't make it mandatory to not have the choice!

Listen to TTOCS! I have witnessed & test rode the first prototype BMW motorcycle with ABS enabled & disabled on a wet skidpad it was day & night difference...one you HIT the hay bale ...the other you stopped 12 feet short of it.

No sir, didn't come on mine =/

And we didn't voluntarily delete it, it was accidental. The store just sold us the cheaper ones, not telling us why they were cheaper. Its about time to switch to the right ones now though.

I'm not arguing that ABS is bad, I have no problems with ABS, and if I had it, I would try to keep it. But I'm not going to go out of my way to try to install it lol.
