is it valve tap?

im wondering if i have a valve tap b/c im not sure but when i step on the pedal pretty good it makes a taping noise so the other day i change my oil and put in this enging treatment and the noise went away but the day after it came back im wondering if its a valve tap or what cause im freaking out

It could be but also check your spark plugs. When they are loose and about to blow out they sometimes make a tapping sound...

Lol, i'm messing with you, kind of. people always seem to be in denial about knocking rods though. If you have a rod knocking, it means it's new engine time.

If it's a rod, it will happen exactly in synch with the engine rpm. If it's valvetrain related, it will only happen at half speed.

Does it happen all the time? Or just when you step on the gas?

What about your exhaust? The pass side header has a gasket that is known to leak and can sound like it is your motor. Have you done any mods lately? Could be a few diff things. Might not be motor.

Could it be pinging / knocking? I know my engine knocks in the high rpm's when I'm in the gas if I use 87 octane =(

mine does with 88 too but when i use 91 or 93 it goes away,does anyone knows what is going on it makes me think that the motor is gonna crap on me,please dont tell me i need a new motor? :wall:

Javi, your's is spark knock, pull alittle timing out if you want to run the cheap stuff.

New guy, your's is an exhaust leak, no worries, it just sounds dumb. IMO I would leave it until I did header's or a mid pipe

Yeah I had a buddy ride in mine and he's like "yeah you can thank crappy california fuel for that." I put in 89 and no problems.

Sounds like an exhaust leak to me, mine does the same thing and I thought it was valvetrain noise or rod knock too. Does it sound louder when you try to accelerate with then engine in the lower rpms say 1500-2200. Thats were mine seems to be the loudest, either that or because im running the O/R prochamber when i get above 2200 rpm it just drowneds it out. Im not sure which one it is though :wall:
