Ok i found some ported E7 heads that have the cobra valves and everything in them, and they come with 1.72 valves. What do you think would be a good price to pay for these? I already have the SVO intakes and i want put a Steeda #19 or TFS1 cam in it. My goal for the car is going to be so low 12's. Do you think these with some 4.10 gears would get me close? I think they would get me into some 13's. Do you think some gt40 heads would get me more power unported. I not really looking to get anything ported unless i buy them like that.

What is the sale price? I've heard of marginal performance with ported E7's but if you get a good deal I'd say hit it. The thing is, since you are going through the trouble of tearing the stockers off I would maybe hold out until you find a set of Aluminum ones. I bought mine from a guy in NJ. He had a set of used Edel. "Performer" with little miles on them. I paid $600 for the set. 85K miles later they are still running strong. The advantages are some 50# of weight off the front, they run cooler and have better perf. out of the box than any ported E7. Plus, there's room to port on these.. I dunno, if you can't wait and he wants say $400 or so I would go for it.

Personally, I think E7s in any high performance application are a waste of time.

did you get cobra gt-40's or the explorer gt40p's, i heard the gt40p's flow a little better than the cobras but i'm not sure on how true that is

bro from personal experience I went from ported e7's to gt40 to ported gt40p's to the aluminum twisted wedge tirck flows now....save your 300 bucks and put it in a piggy bank til you can get some aluminum heads. out of the box untouched they will flow as good as any port gt40 variant head. Not to mention you can run higher compress, advance timing more, run cooler etc. They will help you get to your goal quick than any iron head. Unless you get an insane deal on some gt40 like I did ( found some locally in the newspaper for 100 bucks) don't waste your time. you can thank me when you gain 50 hp and lose 50 lbs.

I know that i have hear it thousands of times. Im not looking to go faster than a 12.5 because i dont want a cage, and will not have a cage in this car. I have a buddy that is cutting 12's with unported gt40's so i dont think i need much more. the heavy duty stuff can come when i get a fox, bigger bank account, and a winter beater. I think a basic H/C/I swap along with 4.10 gears, a nice stall, and some sticky tires can get me close to my goal.

e7 to ported e7 - 5-10 hp
ported e7 to gt40- 10
gt40 to ported gt40- 10-15

I only dyno'd my car after I got the ported e7's and then the ported gt40's, but had both sets of heads unported with stock cam. gt40's are a good head don't get me wrong, BUT you have to be a pretty good driver to cut some good times. I would opt for the gt40p's if you go that route I keep finding them cheap just no use for them and maybe even find a ported set. I have head the gt40p's outflow the gt40's. You could be in the 12's with those mods but you have to practice driving even if its an auto.

there is no way i would waste my time and money switching the e7's to another set of e7's regardless if they are slightly ported
