so ive heard that if you dont use a ford throw out bearing, that it will make the chirping sound. auto zone has throw out bearings for 20.00 that arent ford and a ford racing one is 70.00!!!! so if anyone has done this please give me your input on this

It's not true. Although the all-steel Ford throwout bearing is nice, the nylon/steel one that Timken makes (which Auto Zone sells) works fine. I ran one of those in my 7400 rpm road racecar for an entire season with nary an chirp.

I ordered the Ford racing one which is 52 bux kaitlyn because thats the one that was reccomended by most of my buddies who own these things. I will NEVER use an exedy one again after splitting it in 2 pieces.

The store bought one I had in my 82 for 15 years never made a sound. Now the Ford factory one cryed like a Jeff Gordon fan after about 3 years.

ha i like that!

I only run the FRPP ones after my spec one grenaded itself. I got my frpp for $30.....

+1 on the FRPP bearing. I had a Spec TOB come apart and the little rollers went clanking around in my bellhousing....guess how that worked out for the clutch.

The one I'm using is all metal and is pretty reasonable... Its a BCA bearing. They have it at Rockauto and sometimes Autozone can order them in locally,. Cost is like 35 bucks and they work well with no noise. Running it in my 347 stroker... and ran it when the motor was stock. Great piece

I purchased the Ford Racing throw out bearing when I installed the clutch and flywheel last year. Waaaay too much work to risk it. I will pay the extra $25.00 every time.

The mechanic added a Fidanza TOB when I put in the clutch & it lasted 1000 miles chirping & squealing the whole way....another new clutch & a Ford Racing TOB later plus the LDC mod from Lethal Performance and 3000 miles it is quieter than a church mouse... Ford bearings can be had for around $49 bucks if you look...maybe less...but they are quality I trust...you choose what you have to though, hopefully you won't be doing it over real soon.
