I cleaned my air filter today along with my MAF and a few other valves, and took a close look at my JLT intake tube.

WTF!, the opening on the JLT is smaller than the OEM peice. What do you guys think, should i leave the JLT in place or should i dust off the OEM peice and sell the JLT?

You bring you a good point. With the stock tune I think it really doesn't matter the size of piping because you wont be able to capitalize on the amount of flow that is coming from a bigger unit. And I think the stock unit has more bends so thats why aftermarket pieces are slightly better. The air flow is a straight path to the plenum...

Interesting... I guess this is why everyone says just to put a K&N into your stock airbox and leave it at that instead of spending alot of money on a CAI.

This is why most of us have been saying for years that the stock piece is not a restriction and only buy a CAI for looks.
Drop in K&N gets the same gains as a CAI for the most part and most of those CAI's are just PVC pipe.

The thick plastic retains less heat than metal.
As long as it's plastic or PVC your fine. The metal CAI's retain alot of heat and become more
of a hot air intake than anything.
Bob we agree that you should not expect huge gains from a CAI but,
select a CAI based on looks instead.

im going to order that new jlt that goes threw the fender and locates the filter down.. its pretty cool because it relocates the maf before the curve.
