hi guys new to the site and just purchased a 94 GT, practically got it for free, it has a 302 around 110000 miles underdrive pullies, cold air intake, open shorty headers dont ask why, smog bypass, 5 speed, gears are unknown but in 5th gear around 90 mph im at 2600 rpm's. My problem is i wanna know the easiest non expensive way to get this thing low 13's and maybe 12's im tired of the shit talking turbo imports please somebody who knows what they are doing guide me in the right direction as to what i need to do, thank you.

gears, proper exhaust (dont run open shorties. Highly dangerous as shorty headers dont offer a long enough path between the atmosphere and the exhaust valve. The cold atmosphere air can contact the hot exhaust valve, making it brittle and prone to failure), used supercharger kit. that'll get you in the mid 13s or so.

*note: you're going to get a different response to this from other members. Be sure to listen to them as I am located in Colorado. Hitting a 13 at 6,000 feet above sea level is like pulling teeth -- their advice may not have "as much" involved as what I just suggested.*

no, you'll get more input (i assure you) -- you just started the thread in the middle of the night while everyone is out cruising around and doing drugs and such...... ;-) lol!

Yes, yes I am!

I don't know a ton about spraying, not really my thing. I believe superchargers are the best bang for the buck if you're looking for a relatively big increase in power that is always there unlike spray.

Keep in mind if you're looking to improve your track time, power is great and all but you actually need you be able to apply it. So that's something you'll have to play around with.

What altitude are you at?

13s in Denver is hard without a power adder.

13s in Arizona is very doable n/a.

And yea, put a full exhaust on it. Get your torque back.

Actually it's backwards, the supercharger needs to rev to make the power, nitrous on the other hand is always ready to go. As long as you are above 3000 rpm at least, and you better hang on because it's INSTANT, best thing in the world IMO. But supercharger are good if you daily or drive it a lot and is ready to race on the street or highway.

but to the op, the best place to start is the gears, Shifter and a motor out of a explorer lol.

Not all superchargers need revs... Yes you get the higher power with more revs but some are always working. Like the m112 is always working, but the supercharger I had on my truck you had to have pretty high before it kicked in.

I meant by nitrous not always there is you're not going to spray every time you put your foot into it.

yeah the root style is different but is still belt driven, meaning you progressively go up in horse power. where the nitrous is there on the touch of the button.
the nitrous can be there at times depending on what your doing, like my dad would daily drive and occasionally have the bottle hooked up on during 30 minute commute lol,
or you can have it when your out to a meet or cruise.

Good tires and some suspension work, especially if you're going to spray. With the bottle the TQ will hit hard and with out traction your WILL spin.

I'd start with putting the rest of the exhaust on. X / H / or Prochamber midpipe (catted or uncatted up to you), tailpipes and mufflers. Than do 3.73 gears, short throw shifter, and a HCI (heads cam intake swap). Also don't forget to do some suspension work, rear lower control arms, sway bars, shocks/struts, subframe connectors.

A quick simple and easy way to determine the rear gear ratio is to raise the rear wheels, mark the drive shaft and count the drive shaft rotations for 1 turn of the wheel. If the count is 2 3/4 turns you have 2:73 gears if you count 3 1/2 turns the gear is 3:55 and so on. High torque and full boost from a positive displacement supercharger at low rpm makes for a fun street car. Just need sticky tires to take advantage of all that low end torque.

3.73 gears , upr suspension and k member to reduce alot of weight and pick up time , If you have the money adding a turbo to it would be the most horsepower and best performance also the most work , the supercharger would be 2nd cost would proble be about the same depending on where you buy your stuff also I would get something like a weiand 871 kit that is working all the time and adds like 150 hp can be bought from summit racing , nitrous im not too big on it honestly its a little over rated in my opinion its not something your gonna be able to spray alot on the street and your gonna be constantly having to buy more nitrous but would be the simplest install and with 100k if you planned on rebuilding I would spray the hell out of it till it blows haha . the 871 kit takes around 2 hours to install fully thats super quick and easy for 150hp upgrade JMO GOOD LUCK!
