Just put an '02 gt trans in my '96 gt....Can I get my speedometer working again?

Hey guys, I just finished having my mechanic swap a friends transmission out of his '02 gt into my '96 gt. My trans was giving me problems and I got his for free so I figured why not....Anyway, my mechanic put it in and it works fine, its just that my '96 transmission had a sensor for the speedometer and the new one i guess does not. Not my speedometer is reading speeds of 100-130 when I'm doing about 30. Anybody know what I need to do to get my speedometer working again? Thanks in advance
