Yesterday I left for work which is about 35 miles away at 2 pm. Ok well 5 minutes after being on the freeway my damn a/c stops working and I can't roll down my windows because I just had them tinted.. :BangHead:
So I'm like ok this sucks but whatever I will just man up and handle it, then 40 minutes in on the freeway stuck in traffic my car decides ok its time to overheat. I turned on my heater and had to suffer for the next 15 minutes, I got to work and parked and then was told I have to move my car. I move my car down the street to a different lot and as soon as I get there my car just dumps coolant everywhere, Such a great day!
I ended up going to buy coolant on my lunch and filled it back up and it ran fine so it seems like no damage but hey we will find out, gonna go get my a/c checked out today and talk to my mechanic as well and see what he says.

you seem very passive that your car puked coolant everywhere.. that can be a bad thing man.. sounds like your electric fan wasn't turning on.

Yeah, sound like your electric fan took a dump. I bet thats why the air stopped working. If the electric fan fail, the car shuts off the A/C for fail-safe reasons.

Thats why I bought a DD...my commute to work is about 30 mins in the morning, but about 45-1hr on the way home because of traffic. My mustang's AC stopped working and started overheated all the time...now I chill in my TL with freezing AC, good tunes, and auto trans :icon_rr:

AC is an easy fix usually...those charge cans that you can buy at autozone work like a charm. I'm gonna get one for the stang. I get one every summer, and the AC comes right back colder than ever.

Well I never said I was passive or happy about it, I just got off work at midnight and there was nothing I could do about it at the time. I took it to my mechanic yesterday and it overheated on the way there, The Fan took a dump and the coolant resevoir is cracked in half. For a minute I thought I had blown a head gasket, oh well if could be a lot worse.

It happens... My car had a minute radiator leak when I first bought it... Couldn't find it for the life of me..

When getting your car fixed, couple of words of advice...

If its a 96:

get a newer 97-04 style radiator.
get a 180 degree thermostat.

when i had my .060 308 in my car it overheated on me all the time so i feel your pain

now with a standard bore motor with the AC on with a 108 degree heat index, my ac stays ice cold and temp stays around 200-210. i love it
