alright y'all I'm looking at blowers and I really like the numbers behind the Ken Bell twin screw, but I hear that its not as reliable as one would hope. anyone have any experience? also I am having a hell of a time finding a twin screw supercharger for my 02 4.6 2v other than the KB. does no one else make them for my engine, or am I missing something. I have also been looking at the Novi2000, any reviews? I like the idea of having the immediate torque off the line from a twin screw vs a centrifugal, but I get the feeling that the KB is just overrated and your paying for the name slapped on the supercharger rather than the supercharger itself. In all honesty you cant beat the look of a sexy twin screw blower under your hood:headbang:. Anyone please feel free to chime in and give me your opinion this is still in the planning stages so I want to be as through as possible.

A good friend had one on his 04. He was not the most mechanically inclined, but he managed to do the install himself. Got a mail order tune and ran it like that for a couple of years until he had it custom tuned. Tuning got him a bit more power, but reliability was rock solid. We did a lot of shows, cruises, and 1-2x per month at the strip. I'd slap on a KB kit in a heartbeat on a 4.6, his 04 made some great #'s and it showed at the strip. Mid 12's at 5800ft ain't bad in my book.

I've always thought KBs were some of the better blows available as far as reliability, I really like mine and don't have any regrets as far as that goes. as far as twin screws KB is probably the most popular, u could also look at Whipple or Lysholm but not sure they have much for our older cars.

^Good point. Tork tech allows you to run any twin screw that would fit a Terminator which really opens up your options. But it comes with a fairly high price tag, and quite a bit of work to install everything. Tho I would imagine it's not TOO much more than installing a KB. Not sure honestly lol. But as far as reliability goes, I'd have to say go for the KB. Those kits were designed very very well, and they're designed to last

Kb is not a bad kit at all. Never really heard of any issues unless person was over spinning the unit. The novi and vortec are great options too. With a big centri and smaller pulley it can get up and go pretty quickly.

I'm about that roots lyfe. Not about dat centri lyfe.

The KB kit is excellent.

Cheapest way to go though would be finding a used vortech to throw on.

Kenne Bells have a solid reputation with reliability. Very low on maintenance, easy install. Besides going the tork tech route, I think the only 4.6 2v option for twin screw is kenne bell. Centris are usually cheaper than twin screws, but its all about what you want.

I've heard good things about the kenne bells, but if you're running it on the track/as a road race car, you're most likely going to have heat soak issues with any twin screw setup

A properly setup centri will always outperform a positive displacement blower any day of the year. Centri's make more power....USABLE power....at the exact same levels as a PD blower (like I mentioned, if properly setup). Centri's make more power, can use an A2A IC setup (which is far better than a A2W setup that all PD blower use), and a centri's linear powercurve performs much btter in both street and strip applications.

Centri > KB

PD blowers have a more or less flat torque curve and centri are linear so I dont really understand your "usable power" argument. Also it doesnt really matter which one makes more power because he is going to blow up his stock bottom end way before he reaches the limit of a kb or vortech.

Besides the whine a kb makes is reason enough to buy one. And to set things straight turbo>PD>centri:grin:

as you can see guys who have a pd blower will say to buy that, guys who have a centri will say to buy that. I think you should go for a ride in both types if possible and see which setup you like better. at the track is usually where a centri will shine over a pd, but if youre just looking for a fun street car it just depends which type of boost you want to build

Don't even consider a 2k without even thinking in some serious power to get it spinning let alone trying to use its real ability.

Go with a PD hands down. Money,performance,looks.....close thread please.

Not much panty-dropping when all you're doing is spinning and eventually get passed by a car with a centri :p
