lifters turned

has anyone had a lifter actually turn sideways and destroy itsself and the cam before? how can they get out of the t bone bracket? i found this on one cylinder in mine. both lifters chewed up on sides and a huge flat spot. and from looking down you can see the cam is shot.

I've HEARD of it happening but never seen it on mine or anyone else's cars....yikes.

The only possibility that comes to mind is that the spider did not properly hold the dogbone in place; not enough tension. You might want to get a new spider.

Not to my knowledge but that doesn't mean there isn't one.

They really don't need too much tension. The bones and lifters have plenty of clearance. What did the bones look like at the lifters that turned?

I heard of of this happening when over revving a motor. Never seen it. WOuld you be able to post pics.? that is something that would be educational to see for sure.

You can get link bar lifters...no spider or bones required. THey are pricey though.

thats what i have to get for the dart block anyway so iv already pulled the motor on my car and put it away for the year. those tiebar lifters arent cheap at all either.
