Lookin for New T-45

Does anyone know where i can get a new T-45 at a reasonable price, anything under $1000, thats my limit, i cannot pay over that price. My second gear recently started grinding and my 5th gear has always done it aswell, Ive already had new synchros put in and dont want to throw any more money into an old trans. Ide rather buy a new T-45, install it and forget about it.

Thanks man i'll look into D&D for sure, I really want to stick with the t-45. I dont need a beef'd up trans, im sure the t-45 will hold for any setup i build NA.

D&D is here in Wixom Michigan and will cost way more than a 1k. But they can build it to handle 700rw.

a scrap yard will have them, Look on craigs I found a few last year when i was looking to have one face plated for under 800

Thanks guys, I know a local junkyard/parts store that can get me one rebuilt for 500, i figure i could just go with that.

I've also had a few people tell me to consider swapping to the 3650 (i think thats what its called) that was used on the 99-04 mustang, is this a better model? and if so will it directly swap onto my 98 4.6? and will i be able to use my original drive shaft?

Better model, yes, but not a DIRECT fit, requires a few changes...

The easiest, most sensical thing to do with the mods in your sig, is just do a straightforward swap for a good used unit.

If you want a basic rebuild, any local shop should be able to do it for no more than 700, including labor. I can also rebuild it, but by the time you ship it, kinda not worth it.

Yea i figured it wasnt a straight forward swap, and i dont plan on going power crazy with my car anytime soon so the best thing for me to do would be to get a good used trans. thanks guys, i'll look into it, its fine for now it shifts good under normal daily driving conditions but if i wanna shift fast my 2nd gear will grind on me.

Have you looked into Keisler engineering? They take t45's with the common problems they have and make them stronger. They have a couple t45's that handle different power levels so do some research on them if you like them or not. It seems like they are well known and a lot of people use t45's for a lot of different applications.

Alot of companies can build stronger T45's, an integreted bellhousing kinda makes them suck though, for a bolt on car, anything more than stock is just wasting money though.

Think about it this way, they stock one lasted for probably 100k or so, will you even have the car in another 100k?

haha yeah im pushing past 150 thousand miles with the original trans, i dont need anything beef'd up im sure the stock trans will hold up to anything i throw at it unless i ever decide to go with a charged application which i do not have the money for.

And when it comes to that, even then I would swap the T45 out, even though I'm fully capable of building the thing to take up to 800 lb/ft... There's just better stuff out there.
