they are pretty good cars. The most common problems I see are the "pack" that all the coils are connected to, they crack and cause
crazy misfires.. Other than that take any other GM product and it holds true. (Hub bearings and outer tierods having excessive play)

i agree with a cavy as long as theyre not beat on. the timing chains let go at around 90k. op, the grand ams are decent too. the fuel pumps and waterpump take a premature dive as javi stated.

My bud is having problems with this specific car here, car start at times sometimes wont even crank.
Battery and alternator are fine, i checked his clutch safety switch is fine, fuses are good.

something is drawing energy from the battery.
car has 174k miles.

Have him ck the battery cables for corrosion inside the insulation.

I had a similar thing happen to my Suburban.
the ends and connections were clean. But the POS cable had corrosion inside of the insulation just up from the Battery connector.
I had enough extra cable to cut the bad part out and crimp on a new end.

I agree Javi. Check the cable down at the starter and in the clamps. It could be grounding. I had this exact problem with my 66 GTO. I replaced the starter cable and off I went.

Is that a quad four motor? If so stay away...stay far away. I think I had a 96 as my first car.
