the 4v won't have a standard intake manifold or throttle body, it will be very apparent. Just search for 4v swap and you should see the manifold.
As far as other things to look for?! IDK, I guess the usual stuff....

4V has HUGE heads compared to a 2V.

Here's what a 4Vs cam covers and intake(96-98) will look like. But unless you are going to look at a Cobra, it's probably a 2V. Or someone swapped the 4v into a GT/v6 car.

x2! but 4v's look WAY different than 2v's. like he stated the intake mani, tb, and valve covers are very much different and the 4v heads a monsters compared to a 2v.

4v's have oval exhaust ports, 2v are more rectangular. Same with intake, 4v's will have an imrc spacer under the manifold and above the head. also a 4v will have an oe windage tray if its a cobra motor. Stock 4v blocks are all aluminum.

LOL, I don't think he is going to be able to disassemble the engine before he buys it, but useful info none the less.

Unless the guy says the engine is swapped, you're only gonna find a 4V in a Cobra.

^man speaks the truth. every non-pi 2v i have ever driven, rode in, or ran against was a turd, not saying they can't be fast just that most aren't. if it is a non-pi car and you like it then i'd look into doing a pi head and intake swap. a buddy had one with full bolt ons and 4.10's and it was pretty quick.
