just got my 94GT ... there is a slight lope at idle when it's cold and it retains the factory cam. I had this happen to me on my old fox which needed the HB replaced (rubber between the weight and the pulley started to come out). Any ideas???

Maybe Ford ran out of factory cams and put a E cam

haha ... that'd be nice, save me the trouble. I just read the surging idle sticky and followed the links to where he does a step by step for cleaning the TB, IAC, setting base idle, and TPS volt setting and I think that I will try that and see where I'm at ... I've done this all before, it's just been a while. Trying to get back into the groove.

While I'm thinking about it ... I think that I used to set the timing at 14? ADV whereas I think that the base timing is 10???? What timing do you guys run???

I doubt its the CAI or exhaust persay. Simply the lack of cats. My car, with an actual cam in it, starts up and idles 10x rougher when cold. Once it warms up she smooths out a great deal

thanks for the input guys ... I'm gonna try that sticky about the surging idle and clean the intake tract (TB, MAF, IAC) as much as I can and set the TPS voltage. Hopefully this will make it go away.

checked for codes yet. check all your vac lines they can crack and leak. even the lil hard plastic ones they become real brittle.

Got the MAF, TB, and BBK filter cleaned up over the weekend. Couldn't get to the lower IAC bolt, how the hell do they expect you to get the thing off if you don't have a deep 8mm or 5/16" socket ... just about impossible. The car seems to be running better, but there is still a small surge in idle RPM ... gotta get that 8mm socket so that I can get it off and clean the IAC.

I had a tbird that would rev it's self because of the IAC. My friends thought it was possessed. It would tac out around 2500 and go to a normal idle and do it over and over until I replaced it.
