Do the '96 - '98 Cobras have better low end torque (because of the IMRC plates) than the '99 and '01s?

Our sn95 cobras have shit for low end torque. I've done so much to try and help it's burned a hole in my savings. Blower, nitrous, 4.30 gears, you name it.

I'm wanting to get a Cobra next season, but from what I've heard they have even less low end than my '02 GT. My '94 with 2.73 gears "feels" like it has more power than my '02, even though I know the '02 will run away from it.

Are the '99 and '01 Cobras better down low?

My other option is an 03/04. But they're getting hard to find in nice shape. And when you do find a clean one the price is right up in the territory of a 2011-2014 GT.

Not sure what kind of setup your running but with a proper tune and short gears you can essentially eliminate the low end problems. If i need the power, i shift high. If i dont, i shift low...when shifting higher up my rpms never go below the power band.

If that doesn't solve your problem maybe add a turbo?

K&N FIPK, 75mm Dragon throttle body and plenum, 24lb injectors, Mac O/R H-pipe, Mac exhaust, 3.73 gears, SCT-X4 w/ a Steeda tune.

I'm sure the plenum and throttle body aren't helping matters. I may switch back to the stock parts and see if that helps, but it does pull nicely over 4K.

One benefit to improve the intake, remove the hat and polish the tubes smooth on their tops. Their is alot of casting flash that disrupts the incoming supply. Dont play into games about reducing runner length, they should actually be longer.
