is there any point to this?

Did you read the link? Everything about the LS1 heads match up to the Windsor based motor. Coolant passages, pushrod holes, head bolt holes. The guy is going to have to get a custom cam made to make it work, but it will be interesting to see the results none the less.

Why not just buy some ford heads and save yourself the trouble?

Just being totally different would be the biggest thing. Have you ever heard of ls1 heads on a ford motor or in mustang?

Aren't LS1 heads like the best flowing heads out there?

The way I see it, without innovation like this we would still be riding horses. Sure there MAY end up being no point, but it may give other people other ideas that may lead to the next best motor or whatever. You know what I'm trying to say here.

seems like work that maybe not be very potential

Stock LS1 head flow is on par with a good set of aftermarket SBF heads. Why don't you think there is much potential?

They flow in the 200s dont they? Maybe that was something else.

Makes sense, The LS1 in all reality was designed based on the Ford 302.

TONS of potential. $75 bucks for a set of ALUMINUM HEADS that flow on par with $1,200 heads. yeah the custom cam might cost a penny or two but if you've got the tooling to do it yourself and save some bread on making your own intake and etc. then its worth it. Ever see how much power bolt on and cam only ls-1s put down? Show me a stock headed 302-351 motor that puts down 400 plus horse with bolt on and a cam....never happen. Better yet...show me an after market headed 302-351 ford motor that make over 400 horse without a power adder and STILL knocks out 22+ MPG on the hwy. The shittiest part about the swap is that they're putting them on a block that isn't worth its weight as a boat anchor.

Efficiency, Affordability, Different, and POWER....Those are the strong points of this swap.

Not being an asshole here...just showing ya that there is TONS of potential there.

OH SHIZNIT!!!! Now you guys have the cure for your crappy head designs. I cant wait to see a twin turbo version with some ported LS1 heads, that monster will be mean!!!

stock LS1 heads are 200cc runner heads with, i believe a 15 or 18 degree valve angle. they flow on par with aftermarket SBF heads of the same size.

the valve layout helps a lot.

i wonder if l92 (LS3) heads would also work...

Don't forget you will have to get a custom camshaft and then figure out an intake. An LS1 intake might work, but you will have to worry about the distributor. Unless you run a carb setup.
