LT headers really worth it?

I got a good deal on some PI heads, picking them up tomorrow.... :headbang:

We are gonna pull the motor to do the headswap. I was thinking about going ahead and get some
LT's for it since Ill have the engine out. I was wondering if they are really worth the 5-600.00 its gonna cost?
With 100.00 more I could get cams...lol

Ive heard they are worth 20-25whp, kinda find that hard to believe..

So who ever has LT's, What kind of difference did you notice after you got them?


BTW just so this is noted.... Here I go putting off the needed suspension work once again :laughing5:

Long tubes with a tune should be worth like 20 rwhp.

But you need to realize that this power is gained throughout the entire powerband rather than just peaky BS.


I would say they are definately worth it.

You should be able to find them cheaper somewhere.

Honestly, why not just save up for cams and long tubes and do them at the same time?

Def worth it and if i had to take a guess i would say about 20-25 flywheel hp and might as well get them since the motor is going to be out i paid $350 brand new for mine but you will def feel and hear a difference :)

definatly worth it. I've done mine twice. get the stage 8 locking header bolts

It's not any harder to change a clutch, it's easier, since the mid-pipe falls right off.

lol I had to loosen the header bolts to move them out the way to get the trans out the way lol. Pain in the ass if you ask me but worth it in the power area.

Long tubes are definately worth it. and even better to do with the motor out. but i agree that if you have the money you should do cams while the motors out too. makes it alot easier. I dont know about you but i dont really see a differance between the stock mani and the LT

hahaha, i read it to fast. lol my bad, good thing JR is always there to set me strait. Hey JR what long tubes did the car that changed the clutch have? I would like to know so Ican aim for them.

I could do it with the MACS I had way back when, the Stainless Works I replaced them withwere much nicer, tucked up higher, and also had the clearance, even with a T56.

I swapped my 4r70w with my Mac long tubes still on....it was a tight fit that required us to pry the headers a bit but we got it out.

wow the car I tried to change them on was mac's also... I just couldn't get the trans out the way... maybe they were different forms or something... who knows.

lol...It doesnt just drop, we had to tilt it, lift the passengers side up and kind of drop it sideways.

Its really close but it did work.

Yeah, I don't know. I tried about everything I knew how to do for that damn thing. I about pulled out the lard on it lol. Anyway, maybe we didn't try the only way it would come out. :( o well

Yeah sorry i was just joking around. i was just tryin to make a point about how i dont get it when people say that long tubes arnt worth it when the whole stock mani is the size of 1/3 of 1 tube. ok im done now

i think sik98gt can get macs pretty cheap. well, cheaper than 5-600 bucks.
