i guess id mainly be looking for Scott's input on this one seeing as hes pretty much the audio guru of the forum lol but anyone can help. i need just a tad more bump than im getting out of my 460.

recently my cd player decided it was gonna stop working and the tape player already didnt work so i had my old Kenwood KVT-617 sittin around and decided to install it. went in easy, got the brain where the cd player used to be and have a aux cord plugged into it as well so i can use my iphone on it.

after making some adjustments i got the bass up to where it was on the factory headunits and was satisfied with it. since doing my exhaust i swear the bass is almost gone lol. im not looking to crank it up and throw 15's in the biatch like i did my other car, im more looking to just up the bass a tad so i can hear it again. im trying to avoid adding any external amps besides the Mach of course but should i need to i guess down the road i can look for another one.

i do like the 460, and liked it better before i got a loud exhaust, its just not enough anymore.

also if i can just simply make adjustments on the headunit that would be sweet too, but i think i pretty much did all i can with that

sounds like you could add a small self powered sub/amp combo and be happy. Bazooka has been making them almost longer then anyone but alot of companies have small amps/8's or 10's that could work. Infinity basslink is another one I have used and found good luck with.

the basslink is a 10, with a passive radiator 10(a speaker with no magnet or voicecoil) but you can stand it on its end and tuck it to the side

My trunk setup, you can see how the basslink doesn't take up very much room

I added a MTX enclosure and a 10" sub and a 240watt amp to my system. The enclosure is made for the SN trunks. And the amp is screwed to the back of the back seat. This enclosure is probably bigger than your looking for. But this does make for a clean installation. The sound it produces is not overpowering at all (probably due to the amp size) But I can still hear it quite well with the windows down at hwy speeds.

i was considering making my own box to mount sideways like above and would have been much smaller than the MTX. but the MTX enclosure showed up on c/l for a deal.

thanks alot guys i think youve got me sold on the basslink. next time i have $200 ill be sure to pick one up. its only 200w but like i said im not looking for much. i like that mtx but i like the fact that the basslink has its own amp thats one thing i really like about it because if i had to buy another amp it would be yet another rockford amp. ive had 4 of them and love them, but theyre really kinda pricey.

maybe ill steal the power wire out of my dudes Cobra since he cant even use his head unit :p (btw if anyone knows a way to unlock a kenwood touchscreen without the passcode please let me know so we can unlock that thing for him!)

i wouldn't reuse power wire, a basslink doesnt need much for power wire, just 8 ga which is cheap anyway

maybe im wrong for doing this, but everytime i change a system from car to car generally i reuse the same wire on the same amps. now being from another car and another amp it may be different but i personally have not experienced any issues swapping wires

It's no big deal if it was installed right and was good quality to start, if however it was half-assed like 90% of the stuff out there you are gonna find cut/worn insulation and wire that has been bent and twisted around

Can't tell you how many times I have seen guys put power wire through the firewall with tit laying right on the metal unprotected wearing away from vibrations

i can agree to that. but ive checked all my wires when i pull them out to make sure i still have all the insulation and no burns or broken strands in the wire (if i can see them clearly).

ive had wires insulation wear out on me, but that was with shitty scosche wiring. i havent had those kind of issues with my rockford or jl wire

why does he have the radio and no unlock code?

previous owner never gave it to him and we cant get ahold of him. his mids werent/arent working and we pulled it out to try another head unit in to see if the mids would work, found out we didnt have another head unit, and plugged it back in and der, its a kenwood... we totally forgot about it. i got my kvt from my couzin (paid $400 about 4yrs back lol) and her code was her birthday, which happens to be the same date as mine just different month so i got mine and wont forget it.

weve tried just punching in random numbers everytime we get in his car and its like trying to find a needle in a haystack.. not gonna happen
