So i've decided i need a more fuel efficient daily driver and after looking around at cars (ie. gutless 4 bangers) i decided i just cant live without a mustang.

After looking into the most fuel efficient mustang i stumbled across a few ppl on mach1registry.com who are claiming 29.9mpg with their cars (with only k&n air filter + exhaust). Needless to say i was sold, and i'm probably going to purchase a mach 1 within the next month or so :dancing6: :dancing6: :dancing6: ....now i just need to find one :p

Any suggestions on color? best places to buy? let me know your thoughts

Thanks,

Nick

I love the black ones! I dont think I would ever be able to get that kind of mileage out of a Mach 1 if you know what I mean. :dancing6:

The old moto comes to mind "If you drive a mustang, fuel mileage is a concern for you!" Even with that in mind, I squeeze 18.5mpg in the city with my old 5.0L, thats giving it a few times too...

I think if u buy a Mach for better fuel economy you're going to be disappointed. They were rated 18/26 which really isn't any better than any other Mustangs have been rated, the 29.9mpg could have been a freak or with a leaner tune. Basically what I'm saying is don't just buy a Mach cause you think you're going to be getting 30mpg, that's not going to happen imo.

Ive heard most of the 4v guys claiming 25+ on the highway....must have something to do with that high revving 4v.

But of course, if you get on it, your gas mileage will plummit.

I have gotten as high as 26mpg on my 97 Cobra. That was on my trip from Pa. to Florida. I get anywhere from 19-22mpg under normal conditions. I think that 29-30mpg out of a Mach is not impossable for straight highway driving, but not a chance with city/highway combined. It is just an unachievable number IMO.

Yep the Mach 1 engine is fantastic! I have gotten a high of 29 on ours..26-28 pretty regularly! Go for it with the understanding the power is addicting! My low in town is 15!! normally 18-20 though....just a K&N so far...

I laugh at all the brags about "economy cars" & 3ompg with a v6...we can do that with a high performance V8!

DSG or Comp orange are the nicest mach 1 colours.

Azure blue is pretty nice too.

I get 25+ on the highway too. Must have something to do with a motor that does not rev past 5k :hammer:

It's all about where torque is, and if the car sits on a fat piece at cruising speed. That way you don't have to use a lot of pedal, and gas does not get wasted.

When I get mine it will be Azure Blue, Torch Red, or Comp Orange. They are all hot.

I got 25 mpg on my trip to Florida and back this summer in my 02 GT. and that's with 115k+

Routine maintenance makes a difference.
