MAF Sensor

Today when i started my vehicle, I had to rev it high a couple of times so it wouldn't die out on me, once it found its idle it was kind of rough so I pulled out the MAF and the wires didn't look all that dirty but there was a white almost corrosion looking around the piece where it fits into the intake. Should I clean it with some maf cleaner? what are some other things I should do in this process? Will post picture of mass air flow. Thanks

look for loose fittings on the intake, vac leaks, make sure all the spark plug wires are plugged in. Start simple before you really start taking stuff apart.
