I have no problems with steering while driving around town, but on the highway doing 80-85 mph, the steering feels quite loose. I can imagine this is common with these cars, especially when my steering components are 32 years old OEM parts. The suspension is stock, but worn-out parts have been replaced by oem-spec new parts.

I am not looking for racetrack kind of firmness, but something closer to the feel of driving modern daily driver cars at this speed.

What should I replace?

Are you certain it is loose steering and not the feeling of aerodynamic lift on the front? Those would be addressed differently from each other.

Looser spring rates, wider/more grippy tires, and those kind of things are about your only low cost/low complexity options.....especially out in Europe where you have to purchase a government permit to just look at your car or garage it. LOL

I am planning to put Maximum Motorsports offset lover A-arms on mine. Feel the same "loosenes" and think some more caster angle would do the trick.

Poly bushings in A-arms and steering rack. Caster/camber plates, Maximum Motorsports steering shaft. Then do a proper alignment.

I assume you have fresh ball joints and tie rod ends.

Chassis stiffening such as subframe connectors will tighten up the car.

These cars didn't drive or stop great when new.

Yes, +1 for subframe connectors. Even better when it's a Matrix system like Kenny Brown or Stiflers.
