So i decided to take the convertible ( 04 w\4.6) to Walmart since it was so hot out..And part of me wanted to see how the car did as far as temps in the 95 degrees out. It did great..gauge stayed at the 1/2 mark.. BUT..coming home the parade boot ( earlier model) must have got to pliable and soft from the hot temps sitting in parking lot. It flew off on highway! the good news is it never hit my car or any others and landed in the tall grass on shoulder of road.. boot is ok too. I guess it is only for in-town driving or cooler than 95 temps. all-in-all it was a good trip. I learned what not to do again and the car ran great in high temps. oh.. I also leaned I can haul grocery's in trunk even with top down. I may look into a way to make the boot more tighter fit in front corners without altering the car.

I have had the same thing happen on my 99'! Blew up about 20 ft in the air and came to rest on the side of the road. have not figured out how to keep it stuck down so it stays in the garage. In addition, the darn thing is crap to store in the trunk.
On the grocery comment - that space where the top goes is separate from the trunk. I found out when I had to redo the tire cover piece after a 12pk froze and blew up. On the other side of that pressed panel that covers the vertical walls of the trunk there is the top hydraulics and, if you have the Mach360 sound, the amps for the subs. One of these days I need to get back in there and dynamat that. It's bare metal, not helpful for sound.

I actually had the back seat out and saw the amps. I think that is what I saw. I know I got mach something. I replaced both hydrolic lift rams and a line.

Yep, that would be the Mach360 sound. Decent sounding system for '99. Subs, a tape deck AND cassette!
I would like to take the vinyl cover off some time and add some sound deadening fabric to it along with dynamat below. The back seat doesn't get much use but is quite noisy when it does.
