Matte or Gloss Black roof Wrap: OW Mach 1

Should I wrap the roof between the sail panels gloss black or matte?

Details: OW Mach 1 with dark tinted windows. Satin Gunmetal rims.

Matte:
Pros- Will match hood decal, side decal, and spoiled
Cons: IMO matte over an area that large may look like primer (unpainted).

Gloss:
Pros- Will match the dark tinted side glass and rear window, headlights are also dark (gloss looking ) black
Cons- To many shades of black going on (Satin gunmetal rims, glossy roof, matte decals)

No... I'm not a fan of doing the pillars... I had my 2000 gt done between the sail panels in gloss black. Looked mint.

If i decided on gloss black i would eventually replace the rocker stripes and hood decal in gloss black as well as paint the spoiler that as well....


That mach looks very good with that color! Does he have a build anywhere or any place to see more pictures?

Be warned, with gloss vinyl you will have issues with it swirling and scratching super easy, plus gloss vinyl (especially black) can look orange peely. Just from what I've seen on other cars.

Well today WAS supposed to be the day boys... alas... wasn't meant to be. I applied the vinyl and things were going well. As I pulled up on a corner to stretch and readjust it, the paint came with it.

I saw that... and immediately ripped the while wrap off and threw it accross my garage..

I did like it! The wrap was matte black, but I would rather have it painted gloss black.

I think thats what im going with....





I messaged a few places to see about getting the roof painted, just waiting back on quotes.

Do you think the roof can still be wrapped over that small section of missing paint?

Paint protects the metal where as the wrap would only cover it. I'd be afraid contaminants could still find their way under the wrap easier then paint. Paint is meant to seal and wrap is just a bandaid technically

Crystal whit was 99/00 model years. Mach 1's are oxford white!
