maximum motorsports steering shaft

Happy new years to all. i recently bought a maximum motor sports steering shaft. I would like to know if i should paint it to prevent rust. if so can i just use spray paint ?

I left mine untouched and I dont recall seeing any rust.

Ive spray painted many unpainted car items and have never been disappointed with the results after a few years. My thinking would be "since im holding this thing in my hand, Ill doctor it up with paint before installing it". I mean it wont hurt it applying paint and itll look good under the hood

I painted my MM shaft as well (no, not that one) and be aware the slip joint doesn't keep paint on long. I get moisture due to heavy air (humdididity) and the paint helps.

First one I left bare.. Got tired of scotch brighting the first one and since I went manual the new one got a coat of paint to avoid the hassle.
