Toyota's brake problem was God's way of getting rid of dumbass liberal prius drivers that don't know how to work a car.

I just read every post in this thread, search google for 2JZ battery packs (couldn't find anything) so I am very confused, but I completely agree with got5.0 Prius drives are major fail, you don't save any money.... the added cost of the car negates the saved gas...

Whats added cost? You can buy a Prius for $22k and get 50MPG's. There is no extra maintenance costs and you actually save money on brakes because they will not need to be changed until upwards of 100k miles. The Hybrid System is covered with a 8 yr 100k warranty and there has never been a failure with that system in a non commercial use car. Lots of Internet Myths spread over the years by competitors and people who just hate Hybrids.

Does it sound like I sold them? :)

i hear most dont even get that kind of mileage real world. but i guess if u have a tail wind and speed up slower than a fully loaded freight train i guess anything is possible. also did u see the test they did with one on a track and had a m3 follow it, the m3 got like 18.x mpg and the prius got 17 mpg and still slow... of course with the jap spec 2jz battery pack it would actually still get like 40mpg but is their comeback for the 2011 mustang gt.

if you want good gas mileage buy a crx, they last for over 300000 miles, are inexpensive, and very basic.

Most folks who buy a Prius don't buy it to save gas, they buy to make the statement of how they care about the environment. Same crap with the idiots who drive "Smart" cars (ironic?).

I've driven dozens of them for long test rides and had a few for demo cars (3 months at a time) and all of them got legit 48-50 mpg. You could start one up and run it on a track and never get the packs charged to optimum efficiency levels and never see 50mpg but thats not what a hybrid is designed for. The stop and go is what charges the packs so it does best in traffic not open highway but I bet the people who conducted that test knew that and knew the results would be skewed.
