This might sound stupid but I recently found out the first npi intakes on crown vics and town cars are made of metal and have a plenum mounted on the back of the intake like the svo/bullitt intake. Has anyone used them or maybe the svo upper can be bolted to the npi lower?

The runner length is shorter and smaller while the throttle body plenum tube thingy is squeeze directly behind the throttle body. The runners are square and not idea for power. Somewhere along them years, manufacturers figured out how air flows within tubes and keeping the radius area square was not it. The intake works well for the big car torque but die around 5000rpm

Thats how the svo intake plenum is mounted too and thats why I asked. So otherwise the lower intake is different? Im buying a 98 cvpi soon and was contemplating that swap with maybe an svo plenum (or trickflow if its mounting points are the same) or a pi swap.

Ok gotcha. It just looks similar but I can see where youre coming from. Its like the trickflow vs bullitt intake. Similar design but not the same. Thanks for clearifying that with me!

No I believe you lol. I thought to myself how come nobody has tried this lol! I should be picking up a 98 p71 crown vic, which is npi, and thought about what I can do. Im just going to go with pi cams and intake and maybe a marauder airbox to help it breathe. Its really just to get me to and from the police academy, like 80 miles round trip, so Id like it to be reliable but not as slow as an npi crown vic haha.
