Mid Pipe for California Emissions?

So i come to find out that i cant use an afttermarket catted mid pipe with only two cats. I need a mid pipe with six cats! I live in So. California and currently running a custom o/r h-pipe with 2 chamber flows. What options do i have as far as aftermarket mid pipes go? I really dont want to install a six catted mid pipe if i dont have to. I also was looking to quiet it down a bit so any help is appreciated.

i have the bassani catted x on my 95, and it passed both times i had it smogged. im in sacramento. it might depend on where you take it. usually little hole in the wall shops will cut you more slack

Did you pay the mormal smog price and how much did you spend on your mid pipe?

yes out the door it was like 50. i paid 360 for the xpipe. might be able to find a used one for cheaper. or you can always buy or borrow a stock hpipe just to pass smog.

you can always buy a stock pipe and just swap it in when you do emissions.

to pass emissions in California you simply need 2 of these... (since we have dual exhaust.)

My 95 GT passed smog this past weekend with a Magnaflow X-pipe. My HCs were at the limit, while CO and NO were below averages.

94-95 had four cats while 96-98 went to six. What a great idea!

so bottom line is, if i want to pass smog legally here in California, i need to have a stock h pipe on there. If i want to quiet the car down a bit, i could just install an aftermarket x pipe with a couple of cats. But i still need to get a crooked smog check to get my tags. Does that sound about right?
