More Aggressive Cam?

They guy I got the car from said that the car has a "stage 1 Comp Cam." I'm assuming that he must of been talking about the PI cam, since it has PI heads (or so he says). I want to put new heads, cams, and intake manifold on because I want to know for sure what the car has instead of not knowing for sure. I want to do it all at once so that I will only have to get it tuned 1 time. Then later down the road, get the s/c set-up. Also, my car is on a 150 shot of nitrous, if that makes any difference.

Heads -

Cam -

Intake Manifold -

Those 3 things listed above, which ones will give me the most bang for my buck?

As far as bang for buck I would say cams....

we really dont have an aftermarket intake manifold thats worth a shit.

The only thing we do with heads is port them.

You really should get the heads ported and a set of cams at the same time. They will both go with eachother and make more power up top.



It really depends on how much money you have to spend...but I would say a nice set of cams would be the best bet...if you can afford it, get the heads ported and set of cams...should be able to make 300+ rwhp

Is there a certain cam to go with a certain ported PI head for these cars? I want something with a nice lope for that aggressive sound, but yet I still want it to drive decent. I got quoted earlier to port 2 heads, $400 at a local speed shop. Is there a way to tell if heads have been ported or not?

a ported head is a ported head bro. pi, npi, svo, fox lake.. etc

as far as cam choice.. go with what u want, if its low power find a low power range cam, mid.. mid range, top.. topend etc.. pi cams are cheap and have a .531 lift stock to make good power..

along this same line, how are the patriot peformance ported and polished heads with like a stage 2 cams from summit?

i've only heard bad about patriot heads from everyone that wasn't in a magazine. They let oil drip down onto valves, they warp and cause headgasket failure. pretty much everything you wouldn't want in a head.

Only from what I've heard. I know many people who have used patriot heads on t/a's and camaros cause they thought they'd outsmart everyone and go for the cheaper head and beat everyone. but after buying them, they had to buy the more expensive,better head a couple months later cause the patriots shit out on them.

IMO i'd rather just have a port job on the npi or pi heads and slap some nice ass cams in there. Call up comp cams with the heads you are planning on getting and your goals in mind and they will tell you which cam will be best for your application.

I've called comp many times just with questions about pi heads/ which cams I can use and EVERY time they were quick to answer and knew exactly what they were talking about and what I should use. Even though I never bought anything, they were still very helpful lol
