more pi cam questions

got some pi cams outta a 2000 gt, wondering what gears to get for the cams, ive heard press on cam gears, but dont know where i can find them, anyone have a price on them? help is appreciated...

i wanna say, that all PI cams use "press-on" cam gears and NPIs have "bolt on" gears...my PI cams came w/ them removed. my bolt-on gears from my 96 carried over to the PI cams. you will need 2 new bolts though...the 96 cam gear bolt is too big(larger O.D) for the PI cam(s). hope to help. don't forget that they (the cams) are side (bank) specific. cool.

pretty much what he said, except that 99-mid 01 PI cams are the ones that have the cam gears pressed in (non removeable), and mid 01-04 PI cams are the ones that have the bolt on cam gears. all 96-04 bolt on cam gears are the same, so if yours didnt come with any, you can just re-use yours, but as mentioned above, you will need 2 new bolts as the NPI bolts are too big. you will be re-using that space thats behind the cam gear, so dont lose it and dont mix up which side it goes to.

'99-00 gears are pressed on and are not removeable,so you need no cam gears at all.

To expound a bit... If your PI cams have gears pressed on them (there's a big hole through the gear down the cam), you can just put them in. If your PI cam's do not have gear's, re-use the stock cam gear's, but first go to the Ford dealer or summit racing and pick up the correct bolt's.

BTW cam gear bolt's ARE torque to yield, even though people regularly re-use them.

no, you shouldnt need cam gears at all if you get 99-01 PI cams because they are already pressed on (cant take them off). if you get 02-04 cams, then the cam gears may or may not be on them, and if they arent on them you can reuse yours. for the cam gear bolts, go to ford and get them from there. about $7 each or so
