should i do a full pi motor swap or pi h/c/i swap in my 97 GT. my motor runs good but has 170k on it and I do not know the history of it as I have only owned it about 6 months. it smoke a little when u first start it and smell a little rich. what will be the power differnces between the 2 swaps?

Well If nothign is wrong now, go get it tuned and see whats going on and if there is an issue for why is running rich.

If you would swap the motor where would you get it from ? Do you have one now? You can definaly do a HCI swap but you dont know what the issue then the HCI swap may not fix the issue your having.

Honestly with the mileage on the shortblock, I would go ahead and just find a complete PI motor.

+1

I agree, even though I sprayed a 125 shot through an untuned 130,xxx non P.I. engine for 2 years and had no problems lol

i have decided to do the h/c/i swap and if something goes wrong in the bottom i will rebuild it as well. i am pretty sure the valve seals are causing my current problems. thought about it and if i go and buy a used motor and get hosed on it, that will be wasted money. purchased 01' complete heads and intake, now just gotta get all the little stuff.
