msd digital window switch help

Ok so I installed an msd digital window switch on my 98 2v. I used the drivers side coil and the furthest wire to the left ( if you're standing in front of the car ) for the tach lead. At idle, the rpm will not read on the digital display but if I give it gas to over 2k rpm it will pick up but as soon as I let off it goes back to zero. I have it set in 2 cyl mode which is what I read to do in the installation instructions for coil pack cars. Need help.....dont feel comfortable using this if its not 100% right..

Tach signal I usually get behind the cluster just like when installing a monster tach in these cars.

Hmm.. I see. On the instructions it says to use this wire on the coil. Guess I will try either behind the tach or I also read that I can use the number 48 pin orange and white wire on the PCM...
