Could be o2's here but I have just had that experience before and it was one of those. Or Computer going bad.... also never hurts to throw some injector cleaner in the tank once in a while.

SURGING is often caused by a vacuum leak. Take some carb cleaner and start spraying the vac lines and intake flanges and couplings while the engine is running. When the idle goes up, there is your leak

Damn I remember that on my 88. I totally forgot about it until you brought it up

You also might just need to clean your MAF, IAC, and change your air filter. Mine was surging and I just did that and problem solved.

Yea another thing I was thinking of when I said check throttle position sensor....since they are right near each other on the left side of the engine bay or passenger side.

If it is the o2's you can just unplug them and it will run better then now (But run rich). That is prob one of the quickest ways to find out. I know this because the 88 I had, just about had everything checked out and the garage replaced everything (Not literally everything) like the Computer, Coil, Wires, Distributor, Throttle position sensor, Throttle Body area (Maf) (No Longer take car to garage since then and do all my own work LOL) and it still ran the same. So I removed the o2's and boom that was it...(Did not 100% fix but it told me I needed to replace the o2's)

Well just thought I would add my experience to see if it might help you out.

Nick
